REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and not more than 23 by January 1, 2025. 

  • Candidates and their parents shall be residents of East St. Mary Parish and/or lower St. Martin and Assumption Parishes (if by chance parents of the new queen should move from the area, the queen must maintain an area residence during the term of her reign) 

  • Candidate should have attended at least their junior and senior years in an East St. Mary Parish high school 

  • Candidate shall be a high school graduate by not less than one year 

  • Candidate shall never have been married, pregnant or given birth to a child 

If chosen to represent the 89th festival you are required to:

  •  Attend the 11 festivals selected by the board and encouraged to attend, when possible all other festivals and other city functions to which she is invited.

  • Abide by all rules and regulations of her host festival while attending as a representative of the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival 

  • Attend the Mystic Krewe of Louisianians’ Mardi Gras Ball in Washington, D. C. 

  • Attend luncheon hosted by the Governor and First Lady of the State of Louisiana before embarking on her trip to Washington, D.C. 

  • Attend the annual Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festival convention in Baton Rouge 

  • Travel to required festivals and events (shall be paid by the festival)

There will be a mandatory maid meeting on Wednesday, June 5 at the Festival Office. Interviews will be on Saturday, June 8. In order to participate, you MUST attend interviews.
