2016 Poster Unveiled

The Officers and Board of Directors of the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival commissioned South Louisiana artist Tony Bernard to create the 2016 Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Poster. Bernard was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he also resides with his wife, Roxie, and children.

He recognizes his talent as a gift from God. In 1993, he began his working relationship with world-renowned artist George Rodrigue, who has been not only his friend, but his mentor throughout his career. Bernard has been commissioned to produce artwork for many festivals, including Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, Gueydan Duck Festival and the 2015 Mystic Krewe of Louisianians Washington, D.C., Mardi Gras Gala. He was also commissioned to create the official portraits of Louisiana Governor and Mrs. Bobby Jindal.

The first poster for Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival was created in the year 1981 by Jim Firmin to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the festival. This year will mark the 36th year of the poster and the 81st anniversary of the festival. This is Bernard’s second year designing the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival poster.

The Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival will take place Thursday, September 1st through Monday, September 5th.
